Mr. Tall and the Village Below

About Ray Eye

The Mr. Tall stories began during special bedtime moments between Ray Eye and his daughter, Fae-Maddison.

Like many children, Fae loved hearing bedtime stories. Night after night, she would ask for a new adventure, and together they imagined a gentle giant, a loving family, and a Caribbean world filled with kindness, courage, and wonder.

As the stories grew, something unexpected happened. Fae asked if she could read them as real books. That simple request transformed a bedtime tradition into a shared creative journey. Ray accepted the challenge of turning stories that had only ever been spoken aloud into books that children everywhere could hold in their hands.

Fae became much more than the inspiration behind the series. She listened to early drafts, shared her thoughts on the stories, and offered creative ideas that helped shape each adventure. Through her imagination, curiosity, and honest feedback, she became the first reader, first editor, and creative adviser for every Mr. Tall story.

The Mr. Tall series is, at its heart, a celebration of family. It reflects the special bond between a father and daughter and the joy of creating something meaningful together. Every book represents not only another adventure for Mr. Tall, but also the journey of transforming cherished bedtime conversations into stories that families can read, share, and enjoy together.

Set against the warmth and beauty of the Caribbean, the series encourages children to dream big, show kindness, value family, and discover that even the biggest adventures often begin with the smallest moments shared with the people we love.
